Anther reason that I'd not suggest to buy used one for this particular lens is that this lens eventually will develop Err 01 lens error after extensive usages (unless you very gently zoom in/out slowly) that is a problem of the internal connection cable, that happens to me that costs me $200 to get fixed in Canon service center even with my CPS discount. A used copy will be earlier to develop into this issue.
