I do but with 5D2. 24-105L is still my the most used lens, pretty sharp at least at most center and mid areas that I care most even at f/4, and very ideal range.

My recent two trips of Alaska and Italy.

I am looking for getting 24-70L II as my new walk-around lens in future, but due to shorter 70mm at tele side, I will use 70-200L/4.0 IS more often, another excellent travelling lens.

Thank you, qianp2k!

Your pictures from Alaska and Italy are really fine, and the image quality is very good, just as I would like the IQ of my own pictures to be. Obviously, you accept carrying the 70-200 f4 IS, and it is of course much lighter and smaller than the 70-200 f2.8. But, as Hamlet said, "Ay, there is the rub" for me. Because I do not know if I would be too lazy to carry two lenses, or comfort-wanting or wanting to be quick (no time for lens changing?).

It's still one of the best walk-around lenses. As the above review said - If I had only one lens, this would be the one.

That probably is still true even when compared to the brand new 24-70L II if I only can carry one lens. Granted, the new 24-70L II can takes at f/2.8, better in corners/edges, less distortion at 24mm. But 24-105L has extra 35mm that most times I don't need 70-200L /4.0 IS, it has effective 'IS', it's only 1/3 price of the new 24-70L II as you can get a new copy around $800 in eBay, and last when stop down its IQ at least at 2/3 center-mid areas is not much less than 24-70L II.

24mm distortion most times could be fixed such as

at 24mm before fixing from "Eiffel Tower" in Las Vegas

fixed in Photoshop

Most zooms even prime lenses at 24mm have distortion, more or less. The only lens at 24mm almost has no distortion while sharp from edge-to-edge is Canon 24mm TS-E II in current Canon lineup.
