XE-1 a bit too saturated, especially in the red channel

Check your white balance (not the Q menu option, but access it via the main menu). There is an option to set the colour channel separately for each of the balances. When you hit OK, it brings up a grid.

Taking a guess that your white balance has it posted to the extreme red end.
