Don't worry about the barrel distortions. The T4i has excellent built-in lens correction for the 18-135STM, including the chromatic abberations. Lightroom and DPP also have it. It's a fine lens combined with the T4i - it's on my T4i most of the time. 55-250 IS is the one I use for soccer and wildlife, and occasionally for candid shots of the kids. My old trusty 18-55IS is the one collecting dust right now.
