Happens with the plastic flip leggers.  Rebuilt a friend's flipper that had metal and the nylon locks needed to be shimmed as they slipped if he applied too much weight on a leg.  Some screw holes needed to be re-tapped too or longer screws and nutted-up as well.  I had an old Velbon flipper and Velbon sent me a rebuild kit free for the nylon friction locks as they slipped over time due to compression while stored (Supposedly a very bad idea to leave the legs locked for storage, so they said as "It stresses the materials.").

Try contacting Manfrotto and see what they say.  They may warranty it if it is new enough - maybe.
