I have d800 and nikon holly trinity.
1. Have not really had a chance to use 14-24 extensively on d800, did couple panoramas with it and was happy with results, but i was not "blown away"; most likely due to subject matter in the panoramas, not the camera/lens performance.
2. Used 24-70 on d800. Output was good, but indoors i found it to be less forgiving of poor technique than on d90.
3. I like the 70-200 vr2 on d800. Cant stop pixel peeping though. VR really helps shooting it handheld.
4. Tried 50mm f/1.4D (the old school manual focus). Was pleasantly surprised at the result. focused manually using lcd zoom as well as "in-focus" indicator in view finder. Both worked well.
