again, it depends on what works best for you, but for me the 5d3, 24-105, and a fast prime (50 1.4, or 35 1.4) is my minimum traveling Kit.  If I take 3, the 3rd one is the 16-35 2.8.  its a phenom video lens, and I like the wider angle of view.  I never find I miss the tele end of things while traveling, unless, I am doing specific trips like to the zoo or safari.

24-105 is not the best landscape lens under 28, with a lot of distortion, and so so corners.  However, 24-70 IS is truly ridiculously priced at 1500, and I am not sure if for the purpose of travelling I am interested in giving up the last 35mm for a bit of better performance and twice the money (the 24-105 can routinly be found, new on buy and sell forums for around 750-800).  If I were going that route, and IS was important, I would simply get the tamron 24-70 IS, which is couple of hundred bucks cheaper.
