Why not grab a memory card and head to a B&M camera store. Try a few cameras, both DSLR and SuperZoom. Take you images back home and inspect them on your computer and see if the IQ is adequate for what you intend to do with them. What do you do with your images? Are you making large prints? Do you exhibit them? Sell them?
Having a bit of hands-on time with the models you are considering is a good idea. What feels right? Which is easier to use? Do they focus quickly enough? You are the only person who knows how you might be using the camera day in and day out.
