Depends what you want from lens correction though, this is not info that is transferable through RAW to other non-sony apps. Using the Playmemories and converting to DNG would being across the corrections, but with RAW and Lightroom for example, you need to do the Lens compensations in the application separately from what the camera does. For this the in camera corrections become redundant.

I believe tethering on the A99 would only be cabled (via wifi would be way slow), it's not possible on the A77.

teathering wifi would only be used for product and still life photography in the studio.

lens correction would be to correct distortion. I found the lens correction feature.
