Yes ... the "in theory" addition is VERY important.

There are some problems here

  1. It is very hard to make alias free images
  2. There is noise
  3. There is distortion
  4. No one uses the necessary reconstruction algorithm when resampling

So - I would say that in practice, all resampling loses detail. Its true for sharp Foveon images and fuzzy Bayer images. Its just that making fuzzy images fuzzier is not as obvious as making sharp images fuzzy.
