as far as i am concerned, the 35mm f1.4 looks stunning as reflected in these lovely black and white images, the lens is a complete peach, the zoom images look ok, with bokeh that looks ,well like zoom lenses ! nothing special, just ok,get my meaning , why hinder the X-E1 with slow glass, when f1.4 is available .

Hmmm 2.8 is slow glass? I think 2.8 is as fas as it gets in zoom lenses f4 is not that slow ether.

35mm is very limited, good for one job but bad for other. Zoom connivance is zoom connivance. In nikon I have holy trinity (14-24, 24-70, 70-200 all f2.8) and 200-400 f4. I also have primes (35, 50, 85, 105, 300) if I would have to choose only 3 lenses it would be my zooms no question ask. Don't take me wrong, I love my primes but I would miss too many shots if I would use only primes.

So this is reason why I would hinder my cameras with soooooo slow zoom lenses (f 2.8) LOL

This 18-55 is the best 18-55 I ever seen. So why not to compare these two lenses under same condition and settings? It thing this would be interesting.
