The Sony F717? Wasn't that the classic Sony camera before I purchased my Sony H2? That's a long time ago. Since my Sony days, I've owned Olympus and Canon DSLR cameras. Last December I bought a Canon T2i (550D) with the same twin kit lenses. Then I bought another Canon T2i (550D) camera a few weeks later. I've been happy with them; been showing photos from them about once a week on the Show Your Snaps thread (in case you wanted to see samples). Even though I'm restricted to 250mm FL (or 400mm EFL), I still get pretty good wildlife photos too. With a shorter focal length we are challenged to find ways to get closer to the birds. But with 18 megapixels we can also crop to get close. Saying all of that...yes...I think you'll be happy with your choice too.

LOL, Yes, the F717 was before the H2 I believe. It was a loooooooong time ago, for sure, lol. It satisfied me for a very long time. I got out of taking photos for several years and got it back out again. But now the camera just doesn't match my needs. I bring the birds closer to me. Nothing is a better influence to them than food. LOL. I might be able to get sort of what I want with the 250mm when they are right on the feeders. Thanks for letting me know about your snaps, I'll go take a look. I'm still trying to figure out getting around in the forums. It's been awhile
