Checking out the SX50 is a good idea, some say its a birders camera...

- much longer zoom range for birds and the like

- closest focus range 1cm helps with macro

- lighter

However:

- less image quality in low light compared to T3i

- more depth of field compared to T3i at the same focal length (plus or minus, depending on the situation)

- less fun to fiddle around with RAW on the computer

I must admit that I went for T4i and also like the 18-55IS and 55-250 IS lenses that I used before on the 300D. Can't go wrong with these two lenses. If you need more macro and tele reach you need to spend $$$ and then the SX50 would be a more economical choice, surrendering sensor and lens quality.

Thanks for your input on this I will definitely check out the camera. I do need to weigh the cost of what I want though, your pros and cons help a lot, thank you!!
