EOS1D Mk1 Battery differences between a NP-E2 & NP-E3

Hi,

I am have a little clear out and have come across an elderly EOS1D Mk1 without a battery and have ordered an NP-E2 battery but now find out that it should have the NP-E3 battery....

So my question is is there a significant difference between the E2 & E3 batteries and will E2 version power up my old 1D?
BTW I still have a Canon NC-E2 double charger and assume this will charge the NP-E2...
