Yes, that is true. However in Aperture, you just hit the "F" key and it switches immediately to full screen.  You still have access to all the functions of the Inspector (Library, Metedata, and Adjustments) by just hitting thr "H" key, and you can switch to another "Project" or "Album" with a key stroke.  It's entirely different than any display mode in Lightroom.
