But as far as I'm concerned, the D800 offers a lot more than 12 additional megapixels over the D600. In fact, I don't consider the resolution as important between the two. Ergonomics, shutter longevity and eyepiece are more important.

Go well above 50MP and you'll run into lens quality issues, diffraction and practical limits in shooting technique.

You just get deeper into that last 5%.

Add Zeiss UP lenses and we're quickly looking at the 0.1% of the prosumers and professionals here.
