I think what Guy is getting at may be the just released DxO test that found the E-PL5 to beat the E-M5 in low light. Comparison below includes the E-P3 along with the E-PL5 and E-M5 to show just how of an improvement the Sony sensor makes.

That is what I thought at first, but then he said he was upgrading from a PL1 to the PL5, so I think thtis what he was talking about.  I was comparing the 2 with the same sensor, and you are right it may be slightly improved.
