Thanks

Thank you, Car629, for NOT choosing my photograph as winner and thank you, WSteveP, for putting the weight of hosting the mini challenge on my shoulders  . Because of WSteveP being busy with more important personal matters, I agreed to host this mini challenge, and I am honored to do so in WSteveP's "absence".

The problem with many challenges is that they limit the number of participants because they focus on a quite narrow niche in photography, where not everyone has gone. I have thought of quite a number of creative challenges today, but they all are towards a particular area or subject that will automatically limit the number of people who will be able to participate... That is why I came up with the following challenge.... The challenge is about YOUR work, the photography of each and every one of you:

The Challenge

I want to see your best photos. Not the ones with the most sentimental value, or the ones you feel most emotional about... But the ones that OTHERS, not related to you, or familiar with the photo or subject, will be most impressed, or in love with.

In short: Which of your photos would not be out of place in an art gallery? Which of your photos would deserve a spot, or spread, in National Geographic? Which of your photos would earn themselves a place in a portfolio piece about you (the photographer) in your favorite photo magazine? Or which motorbike racing shot would be at home in that cool motor magazine? Which photo of yours would make a great postcard? Which photo of yours would make a wonderful poster? These are just some ideas... But I am sure you guys and girls have some other publications in mind too.

Show upto 3 of your best images. You can of course explain why you think it could or should deserve a place in a gallery or publication... or indeed, decorate a wall. But it is fine if you think the photo speaks for itself.

I look forward to seeing your entries. Judging will probably (and hopefully!) be hard, because I expect that there will be a big variety of subjects, styles and ideas. One big judgement criteria (but not the only one) for me will be "wallhangability".

Have fun!!

This challenge will end on Saturday 21st of November 2012 at 23.00 GMT

Standard Rules

The host gives you a topic of interest. You post a maximum of three images. Any picture you've taken is eligible regardless of time taken and camera.

You can do all the post processing you want. However, it is most helpful if you list your camera and lens along with your photo (because we like to know).

Feel free to comment on other contestant’s images. If you want people to give you constructive criticism, ask for C&C.

The host chooses the winner. The host's decision is final. The host is not eligible.

The winner then hosts the next challenge, judges the winner, and passes on the baton to that person. The winner has 48 hours to post the new challenge. If that doesn't happen 2nd place has 24 hours to do so, and if that doesn't happen it's up to the 3rd place winner.

Posting Guidelines

When posting your picture, change the Subject of your post to display your picture titles and/or your name. This way, when someone replies it will refer specifically to you. If all entries read "Re: * Mini-Challenge xxx - ... " it would be very boring to scan the list.

Either embed your image in the thread or, if you must, supply a link to it. Keep in mind, however, most people don't want to click to open photos hosted elsewhere (i.e. on your website).

You may enter up to 3 pictures, but put them in a single post. Please give a title to each photo, this makes it easier to differentiate when giving comments.

Please size your photo no bigger than around 1200 pixels on the longest dimension. This is to let those with smaller monitors to see your image at full resolution. Please limit the file size of your entries to conserve bandwidth.

As a show of courtesy, and to save bandwidth, please remove the original post when replying, so you don't bring back any previous photos.
