Will plugging that into the xe1 mic input control the xe1? can anyone confirm if that works (not specifically with that intervalometer, but anything like that)

I have a Canon remote (don't recall which one, but with the 2.5mm jack they all work the same anyway) and it works perfectly for both pre-focus and shutter.
