Primes vs Zooms (which Zeiss to choose if I pull the trigger on a99)

I should just add: I was just posting my personal experiences and opinions, about why I bought but am now returning the Sigma 50mm. I wasn't trying to start an argument or to pretend that some people haven't taken beautiful pictures with the Sigma 50mm f/1.4.

As an aside, on my past 3 cameras (Nikon D70, D200, and Sony a55), one of my absolute favourite lenses was a Sigma 30mm f/1.4. Yes, I liked it so much on my Nikons that I bought the same lens in alpha mount. Seeing how much mileage I got out of those, and how the 30mm on crop sensors is very similar to 50mm on full frame, is what inspired me to order the Sigma 50mm for my a99. Even though I decided it wasn't for me personally, I might well buy other Sigma lenses in the future -- maybe a 20mm prime or 12-24 zoom.
