I didn't see anything about powering off in any of my camera manuals, 7D, 1DmkIV or 5DII, and I know several pro sport shooters who never turn the power off when swapping lenses for obvious reasons.
However, that being said, unless I'm in a hurry I always power off.........just in case there could possibly be a chance of a glitch.........
