But would you know if soft corners were due to field curvature or were actually soft corners? Can you tell how this lens will perform when shooting landscapes? I would be more interested in how it coped with landscapes than bookshelves.

Well, you can offset focus and see if corner resolution improves.

Please read my disclaimer. Obviously he needs to check longer focus distances. Perhaps a distant brick wall??
