I saw the same thing, you saying your pictures aren't good and then defending your ability. What exactly did you expect? "Oh yeah those lenses suck, but ______ and you'll be a professional"? Sorry but that isn't how it works. I haven't looked at your pictures but I would venture to guess the problem isn't the gear in what you describe. Ultra fast optics and narrow DOF isn't required to make nice images, in many cases that style doesn't work. Very few of my really good images were shot faster than f8.

And this is helpful how?

Really, people, if you have a suggestion, great.  If you just want to criticize people, I guess I'm just not feeling quite as tolerant today as usual.

If anyone read carefully, I am generally happy with my gear.  Love the D7000 - took some figuring out, but it's great.  Love the 55mm, always have.  Like the 70-300 (haven't used it as much as the others yet, so I'll give it a like).  I am possibly questioning ONE used lens.  ONE.

I didn't say I can't get any good pictures, I didn't say all my pictures are bad.  I said the ones that I really like tend to be shot with the 55, and not the 18-70.  And no one else can say that all my pictures are bad either, as they haven't seen the vast majority of my shots.

My style, I like a shallow depth of field for some things.  Maybe your style is different.

Anyway, these arguments are pretty much pointless - don't you think?
