It's a joke... but my personal experience is that this simple accessory give the best results.

I'm shooting regularly with the FA*600 and also with a DA*300.

For very long lenses, I would say that there are so many issues to take care of, including atmospheric turbulence, vibrations induced by mirror, subject movements... that the difference between in lens SR or in body SR is really marginal. It's a non debade, really.

By the way the last time I was in a hide with a Canon shooter he told me that he couldn't event see the difference between SR on or off most of the time.

And, seriously, the best accessory I found to reduce vibrations is a bag of rice under the lens barrel
