Entering the world of FX - Which nikon should i get?

The D600/D800 price differential I see is around £500, where did you see £300? If you really can find a D800 for £1800, that sounds quite tempting - all I can see are nearly £2000 (ignoring grey imports)

£500 would probably get you a couple of decent prime lenses.
