70-200 vrii vs prime lenses quality

Hello everyone , I have a question pls

I appolagise in advance if it's a silly one

I am planning to upgrade to d600 soon from DX

I have a nikkor 50mm 1.8g and I love the IQ and sharpness that it gives me....I also borrowed a 85mm 1.4g from a friend and was really impressed and happy from the pictures shrpness and IQ

I noticed that I am loving what I am getting from prime lenses ( IQ/sharpness wise)

My question is if I decided to invest in a 70-200 VR ii will the pictures it will give me will match the IQ /sharpness of prime lenses??

Problem is where I live no camera store will allow you to try he lens before you buy and also we don't have places to rent a lens so if I buy one I can't change it later.....
