...download the Win 7 Upgrade Advisor and run it on your computer. It will evaluate your computer to be sure it is capable of running Win7.
You can still purchase Win 7 from several online stores. Just Google for it.
I have Win 7 Ultimate running on two of my computers and highly recommend it over Win XP Pro which I have running on 4 of my other computers. Win 7 can now be purchased as an upgrade with some versions at around $100.
I also have Win 8 Pro ($39 now during the MS promotion) installed in a Virtual Drive on one of my Win 7 computers and am evaluating whether I will move forward with it. I have set it up so that with the Desktop view it runs almost like Win 7. Seems a little faster than Win 7 on the same computer.
