LCD problem on older Powershot - anyone know?

Thx Marty - I might scour e-bay and the pawn shops for a used s60.  As you can see from my original post, I've got better and more current cameras, but it seems a pity to just throw it away for one faulty part.  I fully expect my teenage kids to break or lose every technological thing I give them anyway - best not be the good one!
