Recommendations for a sub $1K FX portrait lens

Hi,

I'm about to switch to FX (from D300)- the D800, and plan to begin with a three lens set as follows:

1. Nikon 24-120/F4 VR (I love the reach, better suits me than the 24-70).
2. Samyang 14mm/2.8 (WA)
3. Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR   or 85mm/1.8 (portraits).

I do travel a lot, many times shooting hand-held, shoot mainly landscape, people, some macro and architecture.

I'd like to hear from your experience:

• Recommended portraiture FX lens, between above  2 models
• Any 3rd party portrait alternatives
• Additional lens selection tips
