Picasa, like others, reads the imbedded jpeg in the x3f files.

That makes sense but on my PC (16gb ram, 4gb video ram), Picasa does not render the out of camera jpgs properly, showing very soft...nearly deleted some of the files before clicking on the x3f file. Wonder why Picasa renders the x3f with very high detail, better than any jpg I've seen? Could it be the embedded jpg is higher quality than the camera generated jpg?

Hi Brad,

I use FastStone Image Viewer which is free. You might try it and see if it's Picasa or your computer. Available at cnet.com
