Opinion: Best form of SR for telephoto shooting.
7 months ago

Recently a troll was on this forum bashing Pentax brand. It went something like this:

Pentax is so Bad Bad blah blah blah... No FF... blah blah... No Lenses bad Autofocus/SDM etc. etc. etc. same old same old

Until he got to;

If you want superior Optical image stabilization for telephoto shooting don't get Pentax.

I don't shoot a lot with FOV over a 135mm focal length so I don't know what to make of that part of his rant. Which form of image stabilization do members of the forum think is better? I think he meant the lens element moves to stabilize the image (Optical), as in, Nikkor or a Sigma lens with OS. With Pentax SR the sensor moves to stabilize the image. I've gotten great results with SR and I don't have to worry about my modern third party lenses. They get SR also by default. Is there also a computational SR (IBIS) where stabilization would be applied after the sensor by the image engine? Sony? So anyone who has shot both types, optical or SR, which one is actually better for telephoto shooting, say longer than 300mm? I realize this was just part of a mindless rant but became curious.
