I'm ready to move to the Nikon FX line. Is the D4 image more nuanced and lively than the D800?

Hi Michel,

Thanks for the response.  I realize you can play with these files in RAW but with a load of 2,000 files from a wedding it makes sense to have most of your editing done in the camera.  If I was still doing news and sports all this wouldn't be an issue.  For my current work I need to shoot as best I can to make the photo in the camera.  I only have time for RAW work and editing when I'm trying to save a critical shot or when I'm creating the print files for the album.

This large volume of files forces me to shoot RAW plus jpeg.  That way most of my files are already in jpeg for client delivery which saves me from using the Nikon sw (wow what a nightmare batch conversion is in that app).

From my rather modest experience with the D800 a file from a 36mp sensor is just overkill for most work.  And if you don't have the latest and fasted computer you're looking at lots of hours in front of the monitor.

The watershed day will be when a DSLR can get the same open look as a 6 x 7!
