New camera for 10-year old?

I don't have kids,  so take my advice with a grain of salt. I'd be tempted to get a superzoom or some other one-lens camera, something that allows more manual control than a P&S. M43 might be good too, plus some cheap manual focus lenses, but only if you plan on using different lenses (which is a good learning experience). Kids would love a true macro lens, I should think, especially with a tube extender to get in really close.
