18-200 vs. 18-55 and 55-200
Nov 15, 2012

I am looking at the purchase of a D5100 and I can go with a number of lens options as a package deal.  My shooting is basically just family.  I see pluses and trade-offs with both these options, where the 18-200 is just one do all lens, no having to worry about carrying the other lens.  The other option has the benefit of using a smaller and lighter setup for most cases.

Here are my options:

1) I can get the 5100 with the 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 Zoom Lens, which is an $850 lens, for $1079.

2) I could get it with the 18-55 kit lens and the and a 55-200 zooms lens for $730.

3) I can get it with kit lens and the 55-300 for $830.

4) The camera with kit lens for $580...

5) Wait for the D5200...just throwing that out there

Is the 18-200 going to give better quality pictures over the other two?
