I'm ready to move to the Nikon FX line. Is the D4 image more nuanced and lively than the D800?

Okay, well you cannot deny the oil problem, widely becoming known. I have several folks I know with the issue. It's like a chip pan back there on that sensor.

And yes hardly king of video - you cannot even change aperture in live view without going out and coming back in LOL. Yeh they are going to fix it I hear...lets wait n see if they actually fix it. They are only just fixing the autofocus issue that's plagued the D800 for months so excuse me if my confidence in Nikon is at all time low (for more reasons than I state here).

The thing that is annoying is why do they release stuff with these obvious idiot flaws? Who would think the aperture "fixing" in liveview is a good idea? Are you seriously telling me they didn't realise people would hate that? And the damn black borders on monitors? I mean serious Nikon what are you up to these days?

All cameras have oil problems, this is due to mechanical lubrication. Canon video, even on high end cameras such as the 5D Mark III is far not as sweet looking as Nikon files. Nikon motion is way more organic and sharper natively. Now, maybe you should stop complaining and go shoot, this may help.

Friendly advice: do not answer him. His first reply was that it had bad video, when you objected he then replied BUT it has oil, which makes it clear his only purpose is to sandbag the product and Nikon. Maybe he is jealous he does not have one, who can say? Either way he has no other purpose other than negativity, and as a long time user of forums (in general) one learns to steer clear of such people and ignore them. Some people are just born to complain.

I have a D800, I don't share idiotic jealously of trolls on here. I have several collegues that own the D600 and have the issues mentioned on this site. End of discussion.

Just so you know the D800 isn't perfect either, mine is broken and away for repair. We aren't all fanboys. I can criticize Nikon...

There is a big difference between being a fanboy and being born to complain. The D600 is a fantastic camera through and through. You are suggesting it is not a camera one should recommend. You have not said a single positive thing about it, so you are born to complain. A cup is half empty person if you prefer.

I'm not either, but I'll tell you this. I complained to Nikon about a few things and it's precisely why I am getting my D800 back tomorrow (turn around of about 6 days) even though I am not an NPS user. Sometimes you gotta just be blunt and say that for £2400 these silly issues shouldn't be still with me. When I get it back I am sure it will be plain sailing.

In the UK us folks tend to think of Americans being much more inclined to complain about poor service alot more than us when us British or Scottish just suck it up and don't say anything; and you won't be surprised to hear that I totally agree with that stance that the American's take. For example, up until a few years ago if I had a crap meal at a restaurant I would just suck it up and when they asked how was the meal I'd be like "great, fine" - even if it was dry and tasteless. Now I am honest; if it sucks I tell them (politely of course). You'd be surprised what you get. Since you pay alot of hard earned money eating out these days (and camera's) I demand satisfaction. Like it or not, that's how I do things now and you on a forum ain't gonna change this stance - complainer or not. I think of people who don't speak up as suckers these days! Just like I used to be for these type of things.
