Travel without a DSLR but with a phone camera - possible or painful?

Just came back from Vegas.  Brought my D4 and the new Sony RX100.  Ended up with about eight shots with the DSLR and 250 with the Sony. Very happy with the results:

I don't think ANY phone camera will be able to come close to a DSLR.  The Sony was close enough to be acceptable.  What it lacked in bokeh, frame rate and speed, it more than made up in weight, size and convenience.  I also ended up with a lot more photos of myself because the Sony gets passed to family members more.  However, I have been to Vegas many times so have all the requisite photos already.  I do not think the Sony will replace my DSLR if I were at a new location.
