OK ALL YOU full frame camera fanatics

Hi, I may help you by these picture samples. i shot with Olympus E5 and both Panasonic Leica 25mm at F1.4 and F2 with ISO 800, 1600 and 3600 and Olympus 14-35mm at F2 with ISO 800, 1600 and 3200. Camera set at tungsten WB, aperture priority and handheld (take advantage of IBIS). These pictures are OOC JPEG.







And These below pictures are RAW processed with DxO Optic Pro 8. I select all ISO 3600 pictures to show that it is very acceptable clean noise, great job from Dxo Optic Pro 8.



I have both systems of Olympus E5 43 system and Canon 5D MK II FF system.  Both have pros and cons.

1) For zoom F2, Olympus has fast lens F2 with sharp and high contrast at F2. You gain benefit of high DOF (like F4 of FF system). It is good for group shot which you need high DOF in low light or high shutter speed situation. The fastest lens in FF system is F2.8 and it is soft at F2.8. If you need high DOF, you need to shoot at F4  and you lost 2 stops compared to F2 43 system.

I want to state that the aperture of lens F2 in 43 system is the same as lens F2 in FF system. In same light situation, the setting of aperture, shutter speed and ISO is the same for both FF and 43 system. The difference is only higher DOF (F2 DOF 43system is equal F4 DOF FF system) and double focal lens or field of view (25mm lens 43 system is equal 50mm lens FF system).

2) If you need shallow DOF, FF system is much better than 43 system. But blur background is different story from shallow DOF. SHG lens of Olympus provide beautiful blur background or nice bokeh. FF system can give you the old way or old style of film camera era. I love FF system because of this feeling.

3) If both sensors have same quantity of  megapixel, for example 16 megapixels. Then FF will have larger pixel cell site than 43 system (double larger cell site). If the sensitivity of cell site is equal, FF sensor have 2 stops better than 43 system. FF system is much better in high ISO and low noise from double larger cell site.

4) 43 system take advantage from small sensor size, to make small mirror box, less noise, less vibration and IBIS in sensor. With same lens diameter or same lens size, 43 system can make F2 fast lens, sharp picture at corner, less vignetting at corner and wider spread of AF in view finder (because more sharp picture area from center). Or if set same IQ standard, 43 sensor can design much smaller lens size (m43 system case).

5) The detail of picture is depended on pixel cell site and AA filter. The smaller cell site, the weaker AA filter, the more detail in picture.

This is my understanding. It may not correct 100%.

Both systems are good and you are the person who shoot the right tool for the job.
