Would you want weather sealing Camera/Lens living in Ecuador for a year?

I just have to ask before I commit entirely to the decision to go all weather sealed for my year-long stay in Tena, Ecuador. I ask because funds are tight and weather sealing is expensive. I would prefer to go without it, but fear what I might miss or risk.
The scenario is that I am living near Tena, Ecuador for a year and will be starting brand new with a camera system. My budget isn't much (~$2000), and I'll be shooting just about anything I can (so a range of subjects from people to landscapes). As for the environment I will be in, it is a part of the Amazon rain forest, although the altitude is a little higher at 1700 ft. Temperatures range from 50-70 F, and humidity ranges from 50-95 with 72 avg. It rains a lot but the humidity is my real concern and why I assumed weather sealing is a necessity.
I have posted questions in line with this but under the assumption that I should be getting weather sealed equipment. But I have seen some that seem to use regular cameras in these conditions and not worry, so now I have to ask if weather sealing would be the right choice for me or more of a luxury.
If you were in my shoes (or if you were or are), would you opt for weather sealed equipment?
