I know it’s a bit early, but I wanted to get peoples' thoughts on where Canon intends to take the 6d line in successive versions.

Is the 6D even available for purchase anywhere yet?! Geez, chill out. Go ask Canon R&D but they wont' put any effort into a replacement until they see how sales and user comments go. Wow.

Speaking of 'Wow', it seems like you have a pretty low "Wow' theshold if this elicits a response from you. Canon has dedicated a whole new line for this series, so I think it is interesting as to where they are headed with it - if they even know.

How can you seriously be asking when a replacement is coming and what it'll have before the product is even available?!

Show me where I asked WHEN a 6d replacement is coming.

As it stands now, the 6d is not a compeling upgrade for me as a 5dII user. However, it might be in its next incarnation and that is why I am asking because I am looking at upgrading to the 5dIII at some point but am in no big hurry.

On that same note, many call the 5D3 not a worthy upgrade from the 5D2 since it has essentially the same resolution but it's only selling point is Canon's top end autofocus.

To most photographers, autofocus is more important than bells and wistles. The 6d offers better low light autofocus on the center point than the 5dII, but not much else that I am interested in from a features/performance standpoint unless they pull a rabbit out of the hat on JPEG high ISO performance. The lighter weight form factor is also appealing to me personally, as would a built in flash.

Look at the comparisons to the Nikon D600 in terms of specs and the fact that the Canon 6d seems to be less camera and for more money out of the gate and ask yourself if Canon should act accordingly - sooner rather than later. I am not going to switch brands, but I have no qualms about harassing Canon to keep up with the competition.

You've seen digital SLR replacements coming out slower and slower, aside from entry level models like the T3, T4i, d5200, and d3200. The d300 is 5 years old, the 7D is 3 years, the 60D is 2 years, the d7000 is 2 years. So Canon won't be acting "sooner" with regards to their about to be launched 6D.

One cannot always predict future events based on the past. Was the competition as stiff 3-5 years ago?

And I cannot understand why you are so concerned unless you own a lot of Canon stock.

In case you missed it, I explained that above. Recall, I said I was looking to upgrade to a 5dIII but was in no hurry and that a 6dmkII might eventually fit the bill (and I placed no time urgency parameter on this). PS - 'so concerned' is your own interpretation. I am pretty set on a 5dIII, but as I said - I am intrigued by where Canon might take the 6d line.
