2008 win was easy for Obama, this time he won an amazing victory. Not only did dems hold the White House despite a still-troubled economy, in a year when their Senate majority was supposed to be doomed, they actually added seats.

Obama win re-election with a populist campaign, so he should plausibly claim that Republicans are defying the will of the American people.

So what should he do? Just say no and go over the cliff if necessary.

You should know that the fiscal cliff isn’t really a cliff. It’s not like the debt-ceiling confrontation, where terrible things might well have happened right away if the deadline had been missed.

This time, nothing very bad will happen to the economy if agreement isn’t reached until a few weeks or even a few months into 2013. So there’s time to bargain.

Also GOP should remember, its Obama's responsibility to fix economy not theirs (that's what I heard in election from GOP)

Most of all, standing up to hostage-taking is the right thing to do for the health of America’s political system.

So stand your ground, Mr. President, and don’t give in to threats, time to call GOP's Bluff, no deal is better than a bad deal.

The American public already has gotten a bad deal with the election and re-election of Obama. A socialist (Obama) is incapable of fixing a capitalist economy. The economy wasn't even a priority in his first two years in office when all efforts were focused on his unaffordable ObamaCare program. Obama is obsessed with "taxing the rich" despite the fact that increasing taxes on them will not fix our deficit situation. When tax rates get lowered there is an increase in federal tax revenues. This has been demonstrated time and again (to wit: JFK, Reagan, G.W. Bush). That not withstanding, he'll continue chasing his foolish socialist windmills because he's an idealogue above all else. I think we're in for a very bad time of it in these next four years.

You are completely wrong and making your decisions on the basis off ill-informed & prejudiced  knowledge...you need to do some research understand the situation, look for the better solution and share that solution, rather than complaining....

I have seen many people who keep complaining about things without realizing situation and when someone ask their advice to resolve it.....they have no idea where to hide.....

anybody can criticize decisions, and its very easy....but those who stand on their decisions are true leaders....remember auto bailout & healthcare was opposed by huge majority...how about today?

Auto Bailout now even Romney agreed was a great idea, after 10 years everyone...and I mean everyone would be grateful for Obama to implement it....
