Are you manually adjusting flash output, or simply using FEC (flash exposure compensation)?

Brian, both. With the flash in a hot shoe, if I dial up EV on a flash OR toggle flash EV dial on my D7000, the  effective range of the flash decreases by exactly the same distance. So at this point I can safely place my flash on a TT5 transmitter and toggle flash's EV right from a camera body. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks for your reply!
