It appears the AF isnt too hot either, and while they may have more points, they seem to be very clustered... Hmmmmmmmmmm
When I had D300 I was pretty much of the same opinion. In reality it is not so though. Just a matter of getting used to it, takes about 30 seconds, and then you can apply the rule of thirds just as easy as it was with the cropped Nikons. In fact, as an experiment, few times I was deliberately pushing the thirds outside the focusing points, the composition ended looking totally wacky. So was the experiment.
Does it take 30seconds to adjust to the lack of responsiveness? And I have owned an a850 which also had a cluster of points, it was a pain.
You know what is funny though, is how you need to defend Nikon by slamming Olympus. The OP made a valid observation, and you went to Hyperbole mode. I am sure you have your reasons...
To me his post looked more like a response to the slamming. Don't know, that is how it came across.
Things dont come across the same to you, as they do others. You do have a slightly skewed perspective, just by being such a frequent poster here without any liking of the subject matter.
Truth is the OP addressed a specific area and was glad his camera didnt suffer the same fate. Illy came along and went global on Olympus products. Now I know you wont understand this, because you dont want to, and I understand that. I also understand Illy, hence I havent bothered replying and wont again. He was the very first response, and if he had said something like "yes, but it is a very nice camera aside from that" it would have been received better... In fact, later in the thread he says he would never be an early buyer for a new nikon body (or words to that effect)... SO here is another Olympus win, you can buy a body when it is released and you dont have to wait for them to get a swiffer for their factory.

i must admit there are very few companies i would buy a 1st production run camera from, Nikon seem quite bad for this the last few years, left side AF problems, dust and oil, the trouble with forums as well is that the problems get bigger and bigger so it's hard to know how big the overall problem is, so i'll just bide my time.
