Say Goodbye Canon Rebel T4i/650D and Hello Canon EOS M with Lens Adapter

After two weeks with the new Canon EOS M with EF-M 22mm f/2 STM lens and Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOSM, I am putting my barely year 6 month old Canon Rebel T4i/650D for sale. I initially loved the Rebel series for a compact DSLR travel camera with an APS-C sensor and I also loved the Powershot G1X for an all in one point and shoot. There is a big problem with both which led me to the glorious, but not perfect, Canon EOS M.

The big problem with the Canon Rebel T4i was size. The smaller form factor Canon EOS M is basically a Rebel in a Powershot body. Same great image and video qualilty but with turtle like AF and useless AF servo during video recording. I expect point and shoot AF with a point and shoot form factor. The horrible AF servo during video is solved by my trusty manual focusing. My problem solved.

The big problem with the G1X was the complete lack of manual exposure, manual audio control and no mic jack for video capture. The Canon EOS M solves that plus the added benefit of using my existing EF/EF-S glass with lens adapter. Another problem solved.

So that is my brief explanation why my Canon Rebel T4i/650D will hit the consignment showroom at my local brick and mortar. I have my other cameras to take of my sport action photos and the Canon EOS M will be my "around the neck" and "discreet" travel compact camera.
