I think you're confusing what this thread is about.
The inquiry should be not about sharpness per say, because as you yourself demonstrated, it is quite possible to sharpen almost any part of an image. That being said, what this post is about, is the potential for detail between both camera's. ie. in cases where a specific sensor can capture more detail than another of equal attributes.
Therefore, the question as to whether or not the K-5 IIs holds any advantage over the K-5 II comes-up. Which is valid when we consider that people will not only seek to justify paying the extra costs for the K-5 IIs but also weigh-in the potential for moire as well.
In which case, the decision becomes person dependent. Though it certainly helps if/when detailed evaluations such a these are put on the table.
