Interesting thread, thanks for the post. As a geezer who just had double cataract surgery I'd like to comment on the difference in color rendering that must exist among people. In my case, with only moderate cataracts, my new vision (with silicon single focal length inserts) is a good deal "cooler" than my pre-surgery, cataract vision. It's like I am  no longer  looking through weak tea! The contrast is vastly improved as well, not to mention acuity.

So, some of the difference different people see among lenses might be due to  natural color vision variance - especially for the older photographer. Gradual yellowing in the natural lens is not easily noticed except when the natural lens is replaced.
