You are right: I'm surprised by the positive replies. I think everyone is just looking forward to the lens so much they are eager for anything.

As for weight: it is lighter than the 18-55 on similar cheap SLR lenses.

When you get small cameras and you put on zooms on them, this always happens. It happened with the OM series, with the Bessas (new ones), with the CL, etc. It happens with small SLR cameras too.

There are a number of 50mm lenses smaller than the 18-55 that are MUCH heavier. If you are not used to rangefinder cameras, you may be surprised by the weight of some of the lenses. Two of my lenses weigh more than the X-E1 does.

It's just what happens with small cameras.

How did you find the focus speed versus other lenses you used?
