Beginner SLR Lens w/no asperations to go Pro

The t4i with 18–135 is what I am really focusing on.   Another question is.... Is it worth it to get the 55–250 IS for another 70 dollars?

Keep in mind that my general purpose is taking pictures of kid and some location specific stuff (e.g. Scenary at Disney World..Etc)

I understand that it will get me a little extra zoom,  but the 55-250 is probably a better match to the 18-55.

Just wanted to known if the 70 dollar add-on was a cheap gimic for my setup like I hear about the 75-300mm lens.

Would my money be better spent on the pancake?  Or both?
