D7200 at 7 or 8 fps, 24 megs...

If the D7200 has the required functionality (at least 8fps, top action/tracking AF even in low light and low contrast, good-sized buffer) to be a great camera for action sports shooting, then I don't care if it's called a D400 or a D7200 or a D9000 as it will be a reasonable upgrade from the D300 for shooting action sports.

If it's still the smaller body style with fewer dedicated external controls (like an ergonomically placed AF-ON button as I do all focusing with AF-ON), then that won't be as obvious a purchase for me and will require more evaluation.  If it has the D7000 or D600 AF, I will probably not buy it until/unless I find some evidence that the AF is at least as good as the D300 in tough action conditions.  If it has the smallish D7000 buffer, I will certainly not buy it as that is a non-starter.
