Official definition for 100% Crop
Nov 14, 2012

I've never thought in detail about the term 100% crop before.  I always zoom in to about 11X to 15X on the LCD screen of my K5 and figure I'm about there - if I want to see what the shot looks like at that level of detail.  (Always very sharp with a DA* 55 or FA 43)  The other day a guy said a 100% crop has 99% of the detail cropped away.  To which I answered..  Uhh...  I guess I don't know the official definition.

So can someone here answer this one for me?  (I can also hit the 1:1 button on my computer viewer to see a highly cropped version)
