I've been in the business of producing electricity from natural gas fired engines for over 50 years. A natural gas fired engine/generator is easily 35% efficient depending on the size and brand. My engines run continuously (less down time to change the oil by sample analysis) for 8,000 hrs. for major maintenance. Your Prius would be a worn-out pile of junk running continuously for 8.000 hours.. The bulk of elecric generation in the oil industry, sewage industry and most of the hospital generators are natural gas fired (98% combustion effieiency) with very little ommisions other than water vapor and a small amount of CO2. Incidently, I furnished the engine/generators for NASA (JPL) some 30 years ago....because they had to be dependable with a couple guys floating around in space.
